New Year’s Eve Road Closures and Restrictions

Due to the New Year’s celebrations both downtown and on the Las Vegas Strip, several roads will be closed throughout the night on New Year’s Eve.

For downtown Las Vegas:

  • Freeway off-ramps will close at 5 p.m.
  • The Fremont Street Experience will close to the public at 5 p.m., and reopen at 6 p.m. for party guests.
  • At 6 p.m., all walkways, elevators, escalators, and driveways to hotels and the Strip will be shut off.
  • All inbound roads to Las Vegas Boulevard will close at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Strip will be closed at 7:30pmĀ  to all vehicle traffic between Sahara and Russell.

The roads will reopen at approximately 3 a.m.

In addition, those heading to public New Year’s celebrations in Las Vegas are reminded of two special ordinances. One bans all cans and bottles on the Strip and downtown from 6 p.m. December 31st until 6 a.m. January 1st. Plastic cups are allowed instead. The other ordinance enforces a curfew on the Strip for children under 18 who aren’t accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The curfew runs from 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve until 5 a.m. New Year’s Day. Police are also asking New Year’s attendees NOT to carry large back packs, satchels or knapsacks.
